SUMMARY:BE FAST | Stroke Awareness 5k Run / Walk
DESCRIPTION:Located in downtown Toledo at Promenade Park\, this 5k run or 1 mile walk honoring stroke survivors and their family members. Run along the Maumee River front\, across the Cherry Street Bridge and through the beautiful Glass City Metropark. \n100% of registration\, donations\, and raffle proceeds will go directly into The ProMedica Foundation Stroke Patient Assistance Fund. The fund is able to cover the cost of medications\, health equipment\, health supplies\, transportation to and from appointments\, and rent/utilities for patients with limited financial means as a result of their stroke. \nYour Entry Includes:\nEntrance to the 5K Run/1 Mile Walk\nBib Chip Timing\n*BE FAST Stroke 5k T-Shirt*\nSnacks and Drinks\nPost race meal\nFree Stroke Risk Assessments including blood pressure screenings\nStroke Educational Material\nEntrance into the community resource fair with multiple vendors\nFace painting/balloon animals\nDJ and photography \nKids Fun run will start at 9:30am and is a 100 yard dash.\nWalk will start at 9:45am.\nRun will start at 10:00am.\nRegistration Fee is $25.00 per participant until 11:59 on 8/31/2024.\nPrice increase to $35.00 per participant on 9/1/2024.\nRegistration is free for stroke survivors. \nSilent auction and raffle items will be available! DESCRIPTION:Garmin\, global leader in fitness tech and pioneer of the world’s first running smartwatch\, recently announced the Garmin Marathon Series and its inaugural event set for the fall in Toledo. \nGarmin Marathon Toledo features fast\, mostly flat courses for all race lengths — full\, half\, 10K and 5K. The full marathon course is ideal for runners completing their first marathon or chasing a PR. Starting and finishing in downtown Toledo\, the route highlights the city’s landmarks and natural beauty. \nRunners pass through Hensville\, near the Toledo Museum of Art\, and along the Maumee River — crossing it twice. The course winds through the Glass City Metropark\, past the Hollywood Casino and into the Rossford and Perrysburg communities. \nRunners will trek through iconic Toledo scenery\, including the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve and the Toledo Zoo\, before finishing near Maumee Bay Brewing Co. \nRegistration for the Garmin Marathon Series is currently open for all race distances in Toledo.
